A 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1994, GALT is the largest land trust in the Southeast. GALT protects and stewards nearly 1,100 properties totaling over 400,000 acres —and we are currently working to preserve additional critical wildlife habitat, prime soils, and other important lands which make the Southeast a special place. In order to fulfill our mission we also regularly partner with governmental agencies, institutions of higher learning, and other non-profit organizations to steward greenspace and create nature preserves, providing the public with areas to hike, bike, recreate, and otherwise experience nature
